Lymphatic massage is a form of gentle massage applied to the entire body with slow and rhythmic manipulations. It aims to stimulate the circulation of the lymph but not the blood, which is why it is quite different from the known types of massage.
Stimulation of lymph circulation results in detoxification, reduction of swelling caused by fluid retention and strengthening of the immune system. As the accumulation of toxins in the body can bring symptoms such as a feeling of heaviness, fatigue, lack of mental clarity, lymphatic massage can help manage them.
It can be particularly beneficial in cases of venous insufficiency, post-traumatic edema, edema after surgery as well as – for women – in pregnancy (with the doctor's consent) and in reducing the organic symptoms of menstruation. In addition, it can speed up the body's recovery after long-haul flights, during which lymph tends to stagnate due to reduced physical activity, and cause swelling in the extremities.
